The Collaboration: I approached Anna of the YouTube channel There She Goes to collaborate on a thrift project. Anna’s channel is full of great thrift tips to make anyone’s experience in a thrift store successful. She thrifts solo, with friends, and will usually do a thrift haul at the end of her video to show you the treasures she found. Anna is definitely what I would call a professional thrifter. She is creative in pairing her finds with pieces already owned, and she sees potential in pieces that might be lacking a little something, or pieces that are too extra, if you know what I mean. Whether you’re just getting started in thrifting or you’ve been at it a long time, Anna’s channel can provide advice to any thrifter, and to top it all off, she is so down to earth and has the sweetest personality - I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…if she is ever in Calgary, I would LOVE to take her thrifting! If you haven’t already, go check her out and subscribe to her channel!
The Unboxing: So how did Anna and I collaborate? I wanted to collaborate with Anna, in the same fashion as I would with a personal shopping customer. I wanted to give a sense of the service I can provide clients who may be looking for a stylist to help them with creating a secondhand sustainable wardrobe. So while my shop and personal aesthetic leans toward bohemian and classic pieces in neutral tones, I have long been able to deviate from my personal style to help others find secondhand treasure.
The first thing I did was to recognize that Anna’s personal style had changed from when I had started watching her channel. I had Anna add me as a collaborator on a Pinterest board that was full of items she was currently searching for. While I do not add pins to the board myself, I do use this as a tool when I am hunting garments for my clients. The next thing I did, was to ask Anna to send me her measurements. This includes, height, shoulders, bust, waist, hip, thigh, and shoes size. I also ask my clients for a preference on garment fit. All of these things combined, help me provide my customers with the best outcome when I shop for them. It is of utmost importance to me, that my clients are thrilled with what I can find for them secondhand!
So, if you’ve ever thought about inquiring with a stylist on a wardrobe overhaul, or you’ve been searching for a specific type of garment for too long, please feel free to DM me for more information on my personal shopping services. I strive to create a stress free approach to lining your closet with sustainable pieces that fit, and will melt your heart!
